Who we are

Akashr (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Akashr application and website at akashr.com. We are the data controller responsible for your personal information. For all privacy inquiries contact contact@akashr.com.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Account data — email address and display name provided at registration or via sign-in providers (e.g. Google).
  • Birth data — date, time, and place of birth you enter to generate personalised readings.
  • Usage data — interactions with the app, features used, and session timestamps.
  • Device data — device type, operating system, browser type, and IP address.
  • Communications — messages you send us via email or support channels.

We do not collect sensitive categories such as financial data, health records, or government ID numbers.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Generate and deliver personalised readings;
  • Authenticate your account and maintain security;
  • Improve app performance, reliability, and features;
  • Respond to support requests;
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud or abuse;
  • Comply with legal obligations;
  • Send service-related communications (we will not send marketing emails without your explicit consent).

Legal bases for processing (EEA & UK)

Akashr is operated from Australia and complies with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). We also comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users in the EEA or UK, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) for California residents.

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under GDPR:

  • Contract performance — to create your account and deliver the service you requested.
  • Legitimate interests — for security, fraud prevention, and product improvement, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligation — where processing is required by applicable law.
  • Consent — for optional marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time.

Data sharing and third parties

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following third parties, each bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements:

  • Google / Firebase — authentication, cloud database (Firestore), and hosting infrastructure.
  • Google Gemini — your birth data and profile are sent to Google’s AI service to generate readings. Data is not used to train AI models under our agreement.
  • Analytics providers — aggregated, anonymised usage statistics only.
  • Legal authorities — where required by applicable law, regulation, or valid court order.

International data transfers

Your data may be stored and processed in the United States and other countries where our infrastructure providers operate. For users in the EEA or UK, transfers to the US are made under Google’s Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission. By using the service you acknowledge these transfers.

Data retention

We retain account and birth data for as long as your account is active. Accounts inactive for more than 24 consecutive months may be deleted after prior notice. Usage logs are retained for up to 12 months. Support communications are retained for up to 3 years. You may request deletion at any time (see Your rights below).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — request we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure — request deletion of your personal data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Restriction — request we limit how we process your data.
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@akashr.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA)

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA and CPRA:

  • Right to know — what personal information we collect, use, disclose, or sell.
  • Right to delete — request deletion of personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out — we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
  • Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses essential cookies required for functionality (session management, security tokens). We may use analytics cookies to understand aggregate usage patterns. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may limit some website functionality. We do not use cookies for cross-site advertising or tracking.

AI processing and your data

To generate readings, your birth data and profile information are transmitted to Google’s Gemini AI service. This data is used solely to produce your personalised reading and is not retained by us beyond that request. We do not use your personal data to train AI models. Children’s privacy

Akashr is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us immediately at contact@akashr.com and we will promptly investigate and delete such data.

Data security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. These include encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and using established cloud infrastructure providers. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice on the website or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The “last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
